Pak Thale Shorebird Site

Laem Pak Bia and Pak Thale are located in Petchaburi.  From Bangkok take Highway 35 (Rama II) heading onto Highway 4 going south. Probably the easiest way from here is to head into Petchaburi and follow the signs to Hat Chao Samran. At Hat Chao Samran turn left and follow the road along the coast. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the old abandoned building on the left.

A short boat trip can be taken from Laem Pak Bia to a small sand spit where White-Faced Plovers and Chinese Egrets among others can be observed.

Other birds in this area include Golden-bellied Gerygone, Mangrove Whistler, White-shouldered Starling and Eurasian Wryneck, plus many more.

A whole host of various shore birds can be found easily around these areas, with the Spoon-billed Sandpiper being one of the most sought after.

Nordmann's Greenshank, Plovers, Sandpipers, Stints, Gulls, Terns, Ruddy Turnstone, Dunlin, , Asian Dowitcher, Red-necked Phalarope, Whimbrel, Curlew, Great Knot, Ruff, Pied Avocet, Spot-billed Pelican, Painted and Milky Storks can all be seen on a good day.
