Hat Wanakon National Park

Wanakorn Beach is a marine national park and one of the most popular birding sites in Prachuap Khiri Khan. To get there from Prachuap Khiri Khan follow the highway no. 4 to the south for 23 km. One kilometer after Khlong Hin Chuang village turn off left (to the east) to the park. From there it's about 3 km to the headquarters.

Hat Wanakon National Park-Hoopoe.

This beach is well known for the Spotted Owlets which are numerous and extremely easy to find. There also many other resident owls such as Oriental Scops Owl, Brown Hawk Owl and Collared Scops Owl. Other birds to be found around this park include; Blue throated Bee Eaters, Hoopoe, Vernal Hanging Parrot, Orange headed Thrush, White throated Rock Thrush and Purple backed Starling.

Hat Wanakon National Park-Spotted Owlet.

This park is well known as a regular breeding site for Blue throated Bee Eaters. Their nests are deep excavated burrows in the ground, and a hide has been set up by the resident ranger so they are easily observed with little disturbance.
